Thing 20

I found several different sites that interested me. To name a few Stumble upon, LuLu and imcooked. I can see how some of these sites would be useful to our patrons.

Thing 18

OMG (oh my god) that was fun! I really enjoyed editing the wikis. I think this would be so much fun for an on-line book club for those members who can't not meet in person they can discuss and add comments about the book this way.
Happy Holidays!!!!

thing 17

I think that wiki's could be very useful to a library. For example they could be used for a book club especially if you have patrons that can not meet and discuss a book they can do it using a wiki. There could be a special teen one and a family one the possibilities are endless.

Thing 16

To be honest Thing 16 kind of scares me. I am a book lover, I love opening a book and feeling the paper and the smell of a book there is nothing like it in the world. With all the new technology will the printed word become obsolete? I have been seriously considering doing some drastic changes at home such as shutting off the Internet, getting rid of satellite TV and going back to the way things were when I was a child. Some people ask me do you do alot on the Internet and my answer is "yes", I send e-mails and chat with friends but, I want my child to be a strong reader and I do not want him to rely on hearing a book read to him at the age of 12 because his reading skills are poor. I feel that computers and Internet are introduced to children at to young of an age. Sorry if I went astray with this blog but Thing 16 really made me stop and think. My thinking was " Is all of this new technology making our children dumber?"
